What is friendsell.com and how is it different?

friendsell.com is a completely new way to think about selling your stuff. Don’t use classified ads, use social buying/selling. You are in control of who sees your stuff. You can also decide whose stuff you want to see.

We are the only website with an easy way for friends and family buy your stuff. Why does this matter? It’s better to buy and sell from friends and family than from strangers. Trust preceded the transactions! You trust each other to be honest and fair (hard to come by with complete strangers), and you both walk away feeling good about the exchange.

We also offer the ability to make your listings public, so if your friends or family aren’t interested (or you’re just starting out and don’t have lots of friends yet), you can increase your exposure. We make it easy to switch between public, friends, and family, or any combination of these. Additional levels of sharing (e.g., groups) are in the pipeline.

Why did you start friendsell?

We want to build an online community where people can buy and sell with people they know; where they can feel secure that they’re not getting ripped off.

We’re getting tired of waiting around for some flaky buyer to call or stop by (which presents an extra dose of scary that we can do without). We’re getting tired of wondering if that power seller is ever going to ship our order (he sold 800 things this week; no wonder he can’t reply to my email). We’re tired of the stress and anxiety that is constantly present with traditional anonymous classified ads.

So, what can you do instead? Buy and sell from people you know! Easy, right? Wrong! There hasn’t been a  good way to let your friends and family know that you’re selling something. Email? Blog? Twitter? Facebook? Post pictures somewhere? It’s inconsistent, ineffective, and people don’t bother because it’s too much of a hassle.

Now, friendsell.com gives you a nice easy format for social buying/selling in a centralized location so you can finally take control of selling your stuff!
